Cost effective living

There are many ways to reach the same goal.  Some cost a lot more than the others.  I always take the most inexpensive way to reach my goal.

1. Flying to cities around the country to run marathons vs running around the neighborhood; it could be boring just running around the neighborhood but it’s also the most cost effective.  If your goal is to keep fit rather than sight seeing or ego-boosting by having a crowd to cheer you on, then you should just run around the neighborhood.

2. Buying an iPhone vs buying a T-Mobile Dash;  T-Mobile Dash is a lot cheaper than iPhone and you can surf the net using the Dash; true, it’s not as sexy as iPhone and it’s not a touch screen, but I can do almost the same with a T-Mobile Dash.  Let other people spend more and chase the trend.  I am after the function not the fad.

3. Buying a M218a (in China) ebook reader/Libre ebook reader pro (in the US) vs Kindle 2.  The Libre ebook reader pro is about $159 vs Kindle 2 at $259.  I chose Libre ebook reader pro because 1) it’s a lot cheaper; 2) quality wise it’s good enough for reading pdf books; 3) you can use sd card; 4) it’s smaller and easy to carry around.  It’s not as good looking as the Kindle 2, but who cares.  I can use the $100 saved for something else.
